Hosting a Catalytic Event for your Neighbours
A catalytic event can spark fresh momentum for outreach among God’s people and causes your neighbours to want to learn more or sparks their interest with questions.
One of these types of events is Send Relief’s Backpack Day and Global Hunger Sunday. Many school-age children are dependent upon breakfast and lunch programs at school to have anything to eat. But, on weekends and holidays, there’s very little, if any, food at home. According to statistics for Hamilton where our Send Relief Ministry Centre is located, one out of every four children (and one of every six adults) lacks proper food at least part of the year. No matter where your church is located, hungry children, adults and families are nearby and need your help.
This training will help your compassion ministry champions and your church:
- To identify partnerships in your community you utilize to meet this need.
- Identify who in your church is passionate and equipped to participate in this ministry
- Consider what resources has God given your church to support this ministry
- Learn about resources from Send Relief including their yearly backpack program
- Help you think through how space can be used for collecting donations, storing food and filling backpacks
- Consider a pathway from interest in your catalytic event to building relationships in your community for opportunities to share the gospel
